We were in Paris for 10 days in total. For the entire trip, including airplane tickets, hotel room, Disneyland Paris ticket and spending money, I spent around $1,000 total.
I have so many great memories from this vacation, and I have made a great long lasting friendship from this trip. Brette is my best friend, and I would have never met this lovely lady if I hadn't went to Paris. We bonded over trying new foods, going to Disneyland Paris, staying up WAY past midnight, and so much more. After spending 10 whole days together, and sleeping in the same bed, you create a strong bond. (Especially bonding over boys, but that's for another post.) I am so thankful for going to Paris. Since this was a school trip, we spent some time at a communications conference.
One thing I would say, it doesn't matter what comfortable shoes you pack, your feet are going to hurt!! You are going to walk so much, shoes won't matter.
The following are the days and what we did each day:
March 18th
- On the first day (which was also my 21st birthday!), we went to Montmartre Cemetery, which was beautiful. It was a huge cemetery, and all of the graves were beautifully displayed. The cemetery gave a very spooky vibe, and I enjoyed it.
- We also went to Musee Rodin, where we saw The Thinker, and the Gates of Hell!
- At night we went to the Eiffel Tower and got crepes!
March 21st
- We went to the Paris Cathedral of Notre Dame. It was beautiful, the artwork was gorgeous, and it almost felt like we were in a fairy tale.
- We went to this market-like place (honestly I forget what it was called) next, and they had lots of different things to look at!
- After the market, the group went on a boat tour around Paris, and it was a great time to relax and look at different views of Paris.
- I went to the Arc de Triumph at nighttime which was super pretty!
- One of the craziest things that I did on this trip was try escargot. It was delicious, however, I thought that the texture was very strange (I mean I was eating snails, sooo....). It was chewy and slimy, and I am a very food texture sensitive person. I thought that the flavor of the escargot was delicious, however, I couldn't handle the texture. Brette, however, loved it! It was so worth trying it though.

March 22nd
- For breakfast, we went to a pastry shop that was on our hotel street. I got an apricot tart, and it was so delicious.
- We went to Musee d'Orsay, which is an art museum. The museum had lots of beautiful artwork, and lots of pieces that were stunning to look at.
- I tried my first ever crepe, and it was delicious. Throughout the rest of the vacation, when I saw a crepe stand, I got a crepe. I tried all sorts of different flavors, however, my favorite was with bananas, almonds, and cinnamon! One taste of the crepes, and I was obsessed!
- I also tried gelato and macaroons at a restaurant that was on the street that we were staying. We got the gelato multiple nights because it was delicious!
- For dinner, we ate at a restaurant that was down our street from the hotel. I think it was my favorite meal that I had the entire trip!
- We went to an art museum, the Grand Palais, and it was beautiful.
- I got more gelato, obviously. The gelato always came with macaroons, so I always added one on.
March 24th
- We went around and looked at some shops, and just enjoyed the life of Paris.
- That night, we ate dinner with the entire group from the class. It was a very nice dinner.
March 25th
- For breakfast, we went to Starbucks. I found that after a while, you start to miss home and you start to want some good old American food. So I was happy I got some breakfast at Starbucks (I also REALLY needed the coffee).
- Brette, Katie and I went to Versailles. If you want to feel like you are a princess in a castle, this is the place to go! From the moment I stepped in, I felt like I was very under-dressed and wanted to put on a Disney Princess gown as soon as possible.
- That night, we went to a club! Palais Maillot was a really awesome place, they had great drinks and the music created a great vibe. We were with a huge group of us from school, so everyone felt safe at the club. Granted one guy started to get a little weird and wouldn't leave some of us alone, but we stayed together and it was fine.

March 26th
- Brette and I got up early to go to, you guessed it, Disneyland Paris!!! I absolutely love Disneyland, and I was so excited to go. Brette and I managed to do lots of things, as we tried to cram EVERYTHING Disneyland into one day. I will say that I am very impressed that we did do all that we did. It was super great that when we went, it was the 50th anniversary! We got to see new things that we wouldn't have if it wasn't the holiday. Obviously, the first thing we did was tried to look for some ears, however, I didn't find many. Instead we settled for tiaras because we decided that we could be just queens for the day. We went onto the Haunted Manor ride, and it was so spooky! It was very dark, and I am used to the Disneyland in California, and I was very surprised how focused it was on death.

March 27th
- We went to the Louve, and the museum was beautiful. Yes, this is the museum where Mona Lisa is located, however, I loved all of the art that was at the museum. Some of it was pretty spooky, but I enjoyed the different types of artwork. They had different levels with different categories of artwork on each floor.
